Zero Hour

The moment is here —
the aliens are landing
in small yellow ships.

They demand icecream,
chocolate and other flavours.
So knowledgeable!

We need your your help. Please
synchronise your watches and
step into your planes.

Your mission starts now;
icecream can’t protect itself
(except when frozen).

Dear Loved Ones,

There is a date that needs saving! Wednesday, April 4th, 2012 is that very date. There is a reason for saving such a date. It is a good reason.

The reason is this: We, that is Damhnait and Matt, are getting married to one another on that particular day and no other. Indeed we are fully expecting to exist in a heavenly state of officiously-recognized-union from that point onwards.

Our plan is still being constructed from Play-Doh and popsicle sticks, but here’s what we’ve got so far: a smaller ceremony and meal, followed by a slightly larger evening party, both to occur at the aforementioned date at a place called Rathsallagh House about 20 miles southwest of Dublin. There are about 30 rooms and we hope that many of you will choose to spend the night there and join us for their (award-winning!) breakfast the following morning. Advanced scouts have sent word of delicious food, particularly some very good ice-cream, this is very important to some of us.

We are having the ceremony onsite at 3.30pm so come to Rathsallagh on the 4th with plenty of time to check in beforehand. For those arriving into Dublin Airport earlier in the week, there will be a get-together in Dublin city center the evening before the wedding to welcome all the travelers. More details about that closer to the date. After the wedding we want to invite anyone who’s sticking around the rest of the week (and who’s interested) to join us in Kerry, and pile into Damhnait’s family’s holiday home on the Dingle Peninsula for a few days and see some real scenery. Some of us think that area is very special, and probably the most beautiful in Ireland, if not the entire world.

We are fully aware that Ireland is a long, long way away for many of you and would like to invite anyone who can’t make the big trip to come along to the Maryland party at Matt’s parents house a few months later in the summertime. We’ll send out our official wedding invitations soon but we know that people are keen to make their arrangements so have at it. In the meantime feel free to contact us and let us know if you’d like us to reserve you a room in the house for the night of the wedding. Thanks so much to everyone for all your enthusiasm and support and excitement so far. We’re lucky to have you.
